Description
Light and agile
The Trek Émonda ALR 5 is made for what you want to use it for, whether that's touring on club rides or you want to use it for fanatical races, this light and agile road bike won't let you down. Thanks to its good equipment, this bike can be used in many areas.
Technology
The heart of the road bikeThe Émonda ALR frame has very nice hydroformed fame with internal cabling and is thus nicely finished. Its low weight and stiffness are responsible for its good handling. It has almost alle the characteristics of a carbon frame, but with the durability and price of aluminium.
Good equipment
The Shimano 105 groupset has proven to be a good choice by Trek for the Émonda ALR 5 Disc. It shifts very directly and brakes powerfully. The 2x11 setup with 11/34 cassette and compact (50/34) crankset, you can always find the right gear on the flat and in the hills.
Sturdy wheels
The Bontrager wheels are rigid and reliable and of course tubeless ready. With these wheels, you won't have to worry about breaking them, because they can take a beating.

Top aluminium bike at a top price!
The road bike is a real eye-catcher if you like it sober. There are still a few weight tuning options, so you can get under 8kg. For me, the key selling point: unlike carbon, aluminium can be reused.

Top product
This bike is a lot lighter than my old one, glad I bought it
Pros & Cons
4 / 5
Beautiful understated quality bike
Delivered in a giant box, just handlebars to straighten and done. Nice looking bike, balanced appearance, sober in construction and colour and colour transitions. Full shimano 105 fittings (apart from the hubs). Feels stiff and solid despite its light frame. Minus points: small scratch on angled tube (not big enough to fall over, but still). Actually delivered with one spacer too few to properly adjust headset (either expander needs to be deeper). Luckily still have spacers lying around, fork tube shortening is for later. Grease/paste was used between stem and handlebars, but no grease was used on stem bolts. Wheels pinged when first ridden. I know they are factory wheels, but as a wheel builder I checked the spoke tension all around. Fairly low tension and quite some imbalance in spoke tension across the spokes. But let's wait and see how this holds up in the future. Despite these flaws, I am very satisfied with this purchase, but we'll have to wait and see if this is confirmed in the future.
